TrueSelf in Flip-Flops: One woman’s barefoot journey to self-love & salty freedom

Let me say this loud enough for the women in the back (and the ones quietly doubting themselves in the front row of life):
It is never, ever too late to start over.
Not at 40.
Not at 50.
Not after divorce, burnout, motherhood, menopause, or a thousand little heartbreaks.
You are not behind. You are becoming.
And sometimes… that becoming starts with a plot twist.
🌺 I Started Over at 40-Something — With Flip-Flops, Fear, and Faith
I left behind a version of my life that looked good on paper.
But my soul?
She was whispering:“This isn’t it. There’s more.”
So I traded in certainty for curiosity. The known for the real.
High heels for bare feet and a new life in Tanzania.
It wasn’t glamorous. It was messy. There were tears, doubts, mosquito bites, and moments where I wondered if I’d completely lost it.
But underneath all that?
Freedom. Real, wild, barefoot freedom.
🌸 You Don’t Need a Big, Brave Leap (You Just Need a Nudge)
Starting over doesn’t always mean moving across the world or quitting your job.
It can be quiet:
Ending a friendship that drains you
Signing up for that dance class you secretly want to try
Saying, “Actually, I don’t want to live this way anymore” — and letting that truth lead you
It can look like learning to trust your body again.Or sleeping in, guilt-free.
Or forgiving yourself for what you didn’t know before.
Real Women. Real New Beginnings.
Here are a few whispers from my coaching clients (shared with love and permission):
“At 53, I started painting again. I hadn’t picked up a brush in 30 years. I cried the first time I touched color.” — Marta
“After my divorce, I realized I didn’t even know what I liked. I took myself on solo dates for a year. Best relationship I’ve ever had.” — Anya
“I thought starting over meant failure. But it turns out, it was my first real choice.” — Eliza
You’re Allowed to Change Your Mind
You can decide that what once fit you… doesn’t anymore.
You can release old dreams and create new ones. You can shift identities. Shed roles. Outgrow expectations.
There’s no expiration date on becoming more you.
🌿 How to Begin Again (In Flip-Flops or Otherwise)
Get Honest – What part of your life feels tight or fake?
Get Curious – What have you been secretly craving?
Start Small – Choose one thing to do differently this week
Say Goodbye – To the version of you who survived… and thank her
Say Hello – To the woman emerging — strong, soft, and sovereign
Final Words: You’re Not Starting Over. You’re Coming Home.
This isn’t a reset. It’s a return.
To the woman you’ve always been, beneath all the roles and routines.
So if you’re standing at the edge of change, scared but curious —take the step.Bring your heart. And maybe your sandals. (Or don’t. Barefoot works, too.)
Because starting over isn’t a sign of failure. It’s the beginning of truth.
With wild love and warm ocean air,
Ada Adrianna
